The original Final Fantasy VII game is widely considered as an RPG genre classic and a watershed moment. When Square Enix revealed that the game would be remade, I was understandably enthusiastic but also concerned about how the new game would compare to the original.
The story in Final Fantasy VII Remake is not complete. It is an adaptation of the opening chapter of the first Final Fantasy VII game, which takes place in Midgar. By incorporating fresh ideas and giving characters more depth than was possible in the original game, the remake builds on the original plot.
The FF7 Remake’s narrative is anticipated to be divided into several releases, each of which will concentrate on a distinct aspect of the original game. The events in Midgar are covered in the first section, but there is still a lot more to the story.
Here are some of the pros and cons of the game, as well as why you may want to play it.
Pros:
- Visually stunning: The FF7 Remake’s graphics are simply breathtaking, with realistic character models and surroundings that breathe new life into the Midgar universe. The aesthetics are one of the most noticeable variances between the two games. The original game had the blocky, pixelated style that was popular at the time. The attention to detail in the Remake is extremely excellent, and the game appears to be a contemporary title.
- Faithful to the original: The game maintains the plot and characters from the original FF7 while also introducing fresh ideas and creatively extending the original narrative. Regardless, the new game does not stray too far from the original, and fans of the old game will recognize several critical scenes.
- Combat system: With a blend of real-time action and strategic features, the revamped combat system is brisk and captivating. Players can swap between characters in real time and employ various skills and spells, while also maintaining a meter that limits how frequently they can use their more powerful strikes. The original game used turn-based combat, in which players chose commands for their characters and then waited for their turn to execute them. This change in gameplay has been a source of discontent for some fans, but I personally find the new system is interesting and pleasant overall.
- Music: The game includes an updated version of the iconic soundtrack that successfully preserves the original music’s character. The game has a lovely and engaging soundtrack that lends depth and passion to the plot and setting of the game.
Cons:
- The game is somewhat longer than the original, and some players might think that it drags a little in places.
- Linearity: Compared to the original, the game is more linear, which can displease those who prefer the freedom of open-world games.
- Price: Especially when compared to other games in the same series, the game is extremely pricey.
Why I like play it:
I am a fan of the original FF7 and playing the remake relive my favorite moments and see the world of Midgar in a whole new way. I’ve enjoyed the great gameplay of the action-packed FF7 with deep and engaging combat systems. I appreciate the stunning and beautiful graphics – lots of detailed environments and very impressive gameplay. In my humble opinion, FF7 Remake is definitely worth a try.
