Final Fantasy 16 Preview

Final Fantasy 16 upcoming release June 2023

Final Fantasy 16 by Square Enix is set to feature a new combat system, a new world and story, and improved graphics. Additionally, it will be a single player game and developed by the same team that created Final Fantasy 15. It will be available for PlayStation 5.

Most people enjoy Final Fantasy series because of the compelling and engaging story with interesting characters and plot twists. Many players enjoy the challenge and depth of the combat systems in the Final Fantasy games. The gameplay trailer is provided below.

The land of Valisthea, which is separated into six kingdoms and is ruled by mountains that are the source of all magic in the universe, serves as the setting for the game. Each country has a Dominant, a live being who possesses a lethal power known as an Eikon that can manifest as a giant monster. Some of these people are treated like kings, while others are treated more like weapons.

Clive Rosfield resembles our main protagonist and has pledged to protect his younger brother Joshua, a Dominant. Meanwhile, both of them are close friends with Jill Warrick. This trio has been described, but other than the idea that some sort of tragedy would inspire a quest for vengeance led by Clive, not much else is known about them.

Real-time combat appears to be coming, much like in Final Fantasy 15, and it is going to be even more responsive and swift. A montage of frantic battle with tons of air juggling and in-fight magic casting can be seen. We see more of Kaiju-scale Eikon fighting, but it’s still unclear how much of it is real-time gameplay and how much is just scripted action.

Final Fantasy 16 emphasizes action-packed fighting and the combat seems to be action-heavy. You can expect party cohesion and skills combined with stunning real-time action in the fighting system.

According to the game’s producer (Naoki Yoshida), Final Fantasy 16 won’t include an open world. Instead, there are going to be a range of locations that feel remote and separate from one another. The development team intends to achieve what feels like a “really “global” size” with autonomous playable zones.

The Game Awards in December 2022 announced that Final Fantasy 16 on PS5 would be released on June 22, 2023. From the most recent trailer, the subsequent six-month PC release delay is also confirmed.

2023 is looking like an absolutely packed year for PC gaming. While you wait for more Final Fantasy news, how about take a look on our preview write up for Diablo 4?
